European Silver Fir

 

These are magnificient trees that can grow to 200 feet with whorled, horizonatal branches and conical shape. A slow growing tree, the heigth is not a problem to worry about in most plantings. Ideal for planting in a shaded, moist area. The European Silver Fir have a smooth, gray brown bark. They are native to the Black Forest of Germany and mountains of southern and central Europe.

Needles have long, silvery-green tips. Older trees have a reddish to yellow-brown deep longitudinal fissures in the bark. They have light-yellow brown solitary cones.
